Get ready, get set.. this is going to be a great blogging week because NYFW is upon us!
I absolutely love sitting and watching my favorite designer shows replay from the comfort of my very own living room. It is so exciting to me to see NYFW all over the TV, news, blogs, websites and even magazines! I just love this time of year as its like Christmas in September for the fashion lovers of the world!!! It is a dream of mine to go and sit in a show and see the models walking in front of me with my very own eyes, but until that time VOGUE and Newyorkfashionweeklive.com will do!
For our first installment for NYFW here at corStyle, I wanted to focus on some of the trends that we are seeing early on out of New York City!
Thus far, I am seeing a ton of pastel colors grace the runways. For example, Monique Lhuillier presented yesterday and she had an array of gorgeous colors like light blues, purples, pinks, and silver with touches of black. I loved the elegance and lady like details she put forth for next season. Her show had the best flow about it. I really enjoyed watching the story unfold.
Crop tops are still in for next Spring, so if you haven't taken a liking to them yet now is the time. Like I have talked about before, the new level of crop tops show the upper part of women's torsos, some looks even seem to show the upper rib cage. I suggest trying it in one way or another ladies, as it isn't going away! Prabal Gurung, who is ever the hot designer as of late had this going on in his show in a major way earlier today.
I am thrilled to report that denim, chambray and nude tones are also here to stay come Spring! Jill Stuart had a beautiful show and I am so obsessed with her looks for the upcoming season!! Here are a few of my favorite looks containing nude tones and or denim! I am also obsessed with the strappy sandals she featured with all of her looks. AMAZE!
I can not wait to see what else this fashion week has to offer as there are so many more designers coming up. Are there any designers/shows you are most looking forward to? Leave me a comment and lets chat about it! Who knows, I may even feature that designer in the upcoming week. Let me know your thoughts, I love interacting with all of you.
I wanted to end this post with a reminder from The Devil Wears Prada. Miranda Priestly had a very good point while speaking with Andy about her blue lumpy sweater, "what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise. It's not lapis. It's actually cerulean. And you're also blithely unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves Saint Laurent... wasn't it who showed cerulean military jackets? I think we need a jacket here. And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. And then it, uh, filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic Casual Corner where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry" It is very true, what we are seeing come down the runway today is what we will be able to pick up at our favorite fashion retailers tomorrow. Let us not forget that!
Until next time fashion friends!
