The Scandal Collection

Readers, friends, OMG alert-

I apologize for being MIA the last few weeks but it is only because I have been doing one of my absolute favorite things. I have been laying cozy on the couch with blankets, binge watching Scandal. Relaxation at its finest in corStyle's household.

I may be one of the last people in my circle of friends to not watch Scandal, however it is a fantastic show. Scandal in a nutshell is about Olivia Pope, played by the gorgeous Kerry Washington and is based in DC. She is known to the world as a woman who can fix any scandalous political situation. She also has had previous work with the Government, specifically with the United States President. Each episode is about different situations gone wrong and Ms. Pope and her associates try to fix the sticky messes famous politicos get themselves into. Quite entertaining to say the least.

You may be wondering, how does this tie into fashion Cor? Well, for anyone who watches the show, they know how impeccably dressed Olivia Pope is. Some brilliant mind over at The Limited, (which is a store I haven't been into, let alone shopped in for over 10 years) decided to create an entire line based upon her characters looks. They worked together with the shows costume designers, Lyn Paolo and Elliot Staples to create strong, powerful looks for the everyday woman.  If you haven't had a chance to see it you must take a peek at Scandal Collection- The Limited. I saw a first look in W Magazine and it intrigued me enough to go in person to see it for myself. I absolutely loved it. It's the perfect way to fashionably up the office ante or to chicly transition to fall. Lets take a look below at what they've got going on!

This amazing cape trench coat is the perfect essential staple for Fall. The off white is easy to pull off because its more of a cream winter white. The belt cinches the waste ever so softly. I can imagine this look would be amazing on most body types. If you walked into a board meeting or a social gala, you would command the room in this. This look can go anywhere, even to the court room. Only problem is, I wish it came in more than one color. A link to purchase this beauty is here!

I tried on this amazing petal pink sheath dress in the store and let me tell you, it is super flattering! I absolutely love that it has the classic look of a sheath dress but also has a small peplum touch. You all know how much I love the peplum look. This dress could carry you from day to night without any problems. It has small shoulder pads sewn in to create a bit more structured look. I love this dress. It comes in pink and green and I don't think you could go wrong in either color. Purchase here!

If you are in the market for a sleek date night dress look no further. This dress is beyond amazing and it has such a simple design! I think that its mainly the placing of the black fabric that takes the look over the top. This dress looks like several looks Olivia has worn throughout the show however I love that they made it more for the everyday woman. At least take a peek at what the back of this dress looks like, its so pretty! Purchase here!

Below are some other looks I love from this collection. So many fun ways to mix and match pieces:

If you haven't seen Scandal, I highly suggest binge watching season 1 on Netflix. If you haven't seen the collection, go out and add some chic pieces into your Fall wardrobe.

Until next time fashion friends,

XO-
Cor

Wedding Wednesday- Best Dresses to Wear to a Summer Wedding

Wedding season is upon us and if your like me, you have just started going to all the weddings of the season! My inspiration for this post came from  Elle Magazine . They did an amazing article on the best looks to wear to a wedding and it got me thinking about wanting to give my readers some tips and highlight a few looks for these special days. Weddings are a lot of fun to go to and you always want to look your best for when you are seeing your friends and family! Here are a few rules to get you started: 1) No cream or white-- Please do not be that one person all the others are giving dirty looks to because you wore an all white look to a wedding. I think having cream or white come through in your look in some way is totally great, especially in these summer months. However, just don't have your entire dress be white. I have seen this done before and its not well received. 2) Pay attention to what the invitation says the attire will be-- If the invitation says blac...

Trendy Festival Wear - 2016

Hello there to my favorite readers! Festival season is now officially upon us. One thing I noticed this year is that the fashion retailers are advertising specifically to the festival goer, making it easier than ever to find your perfect look. It doesn't seem like it has changed too much since last year, besides there is even more of a 70's vibe mixed with the 90's in these looks. However, we still have the obvious staples -- the  headbands, the crop tops and the ripped jeans. Lets dive right into some of the best festival looks this season and how they can transition into your summer wardrobe and beyond! Grecian style shoes . I mean, perfection. I mean, say no more! These shorts ,some denim, a big hat and a choker! Your comfy and trendy! Georgy Georg bright colored dress . Pompom Playsuit . Need it! PS, is playsuit the new word for romper!? Braided headband!? I want it and Im not going to a festival! Obsessed with this v...

Dressing Diaries- ASOS Sheath Dress

It's about that time to start another reoccurring series entitled Dressing Diaries . I thought it would be fun to give you a peak into how I style myself and how some of my favorite looks come together. Start of dressing process:  Very late at night, the day before an event (nothing like a fair amount of procrastination), I always ask my sweet  fiancĂ©   to take a picture of my outfit. By the time I get to the pictures, I have narrowed down the look to two or three different choices. PS- this is a really good tip if you haven't tried it before.  I know that sounds funny, but in todays world where there are so many pictures taken its important for you to be able to visualize the final look so you aren't left disappointed. It is also good to be able to see what shoes look best and what accessories complete the ensemble.  Completion of dressing process : I went with nude lace up heels (you can find something similar to purchase here ) and opted...
