InStyle Magazine did an amazing feature on some of the best dresses of the last decade. I thought it was a great blog idea to review the dresses I remember loving over this time period. My Aunt and I had a tradition while I was living in California that entailed making amazing food, watching all the award shows together and rating the fashion! It was fun to see some of these dresses again and it brought back those special memories for me. Another reason why its beneficial to look at previous fashion is that the past always seems to dictate what will come back around in the future. We always have to keep an eye out on whats trending ladies!
Below, take a peek at some of my favorite and unique dress picks from the last decade. I hope it brings back some memories for you too!
Anna Hathaway in my mind rarely does any wrong. This dress was worn to the 2009 Academy Awards and she was wearing Armani Prive. This was the year she was up for an Actress in a Leading Role for Rachel Getting Married. Sadly, the award went to a less amazingly dressed Kate Winslet.
Eva Mendes wore Dior to the 2011 Golden Globes. I remember this outfit being featured on the Rachel Zoe Project and loving it back then. I know some of you may feel the side fringe is too much, but I think its totally fashionable and almost has an old Hollywood appeal. I love that the creme color of the dress leaves room for the drama of her turquoise necklace.
Cameron Diaz is seen here wearing this dress to the Costume Institute Gala at New York City. Because of this look, I often pair bright colors with bold blues or turquoise necklaces. One of my all time favorite looks is a yellow peplum top with a chunky turquoise necklace. I don't love her hair here as it looks sloppy, but everything else is a style plus. This color combo has really inspired me over the years!
Sandra Bullock is also seen here at the Costume Institute Gala at New York City may years back. She looked stunning in this maroon ensemble. I think this piece was worn during her movie The Blind Side's glory days. Amazing.
This dress Hillary Swank wore to the 2005 Academy Awards was created by Guy Laroche. She looked absolutely stunning. This is one of my favorite looks she has ever worn. This gown has been recreated in so many ways over the years. She was a major trendsetter! http://www.instyle.com/instyle/package/general/photos/0,,20396039_20327331_20717108,00.html |
Now, Im not saying this is the most fashionable outfit, but in the year 2000 this made a big splash. Who remembers this Versace look being talked about ad nauseum?! Some even say to this day, she hasn't topped this look. Good or bad, she made a lasting and trending impression on Hollywood. http://www.instyle.com/instyle/package/general/photos/0,,20396039_20327331_20704903,00.html |
Last but certainly not least-- SJP! Sarah Jessica Parker looked absolutely amazing in Chanel at the Emmy Awards during her time working on Sex and the City. Her makeup and hair are just flawless!! This look totally reminds me of an outfit that should have been worn by the Queen in the Candy Land board game! It works for her and it also ties in on one of the quirky pieces that the shows leading character, Carrie Bradshaw might have worn. All in all, A+ http://www.instyle.com/instyle/package/general/photos/0,,20396039_20327331_20705092,00.html
Do any of these looks bring back memories for you? What is your favorite!?
Until next time fashion friends!
