Fashion Review- 2015 Golden Globes

Happy New Years Readers! I can't think of a more fabulous way to ring in the first week of the new year than with a review of all our favorite starlets at the Golden Globes. When I realized the Globes were this weekend, I became super excited to finally be able to formally review my very first award season here on corStyle!!

I always try to make award season special at my house. I just love celebrating fashion, film and television all at one time! My fashion review day starts around 2:00 pm when the Red Carpet pre shows begin. I love seeing all the trends of the previous years and seeing the announcers predict what they think will trend on this years carpet to see if I agree or disagree. After all the fashion is reviewed, I usually sit down for appetizers and champagne with close friends. It really is so much fun!

I know you all are excited to see who wore what, so lets get right into it with the best dressed of the evening:

This years Miss Golden Globe is none other than Kelsey Grammers daughter Greer. She looks absolutely stunning in this very glamourous, princess like Lorena Sarbu gown. She is so pretty and for sure made a good fashion name for herself this evening.

These two. WOW!!! Chrissy Teigen and John Legend were quite the pair tonight. She stunned this evening in this Zuhair Murad gown. Long sleeved gowns are going to become more popular than ever this year. Be on the lookout for this trend and see how you can incorporate it the last few months of winter.

Ellie Kemper, best known for her stint in the Office and 21 Jump Street, looked absolutely glamourous tonight on the red carpet in this Naeem Khan number. I love this look for the different patterns and textures and the illusion neckline. Illusion necklines are also very trendy for this year!

Emily Blunt is rocking this Michael Kors white cut out gown in a fierce way. I also love the touch of blue in her earrings! Cut outs are going to be very big in 2015, just FYI. This is one of the best looks I have ever seen her in! A + + in my opinion!!

I am OBSESSED with Jessica Chastian in this Atelier Versace number. OMG, she looks absolutely amazing! I love this gold metallic look with the plunging neck line.  Just to note, the plunging neckline tonight was a major major trend. We may see this  trend making its way more main stream this year. This is just a beautiful look!

Katie Cassidy looks fantastic in this sexy, plunging cut out frock. The only thing I would have changed would have been to wear a strappy black Choo instead of a classic pump. The old Hollywood glam hair was very trendy tonight and I for one LOVE it. This look is fabulous!!

Katherine Heigal is seen here rocking Zac Posen in one of the nights most popular colors, royal blue. There were so many stars in royal blue and she looked the absolute best. I adore the cut and fitted detail this dress has. This may be the best thing she has ever worn to an award show.

Kate Beckinsale continues to wow in this gorgeous sparkly, biscotti colored plunging gown. I am also obsessing on her clutch!! I wish this could be the bridesmaid dresses in my wedding. Fantastic. Fantastic. One of my favorites this evening!

Reese Witherspoon looked absolutely stunning this evening. She always dresses fantastic, but especially when she is nominated for a role. Tonight she is nominated for her role in Wild. I just love her. She truly looks beyond stunning in this Calvin Klein gown.

Jen Aniston. LOVE LOVE her. She rarely does wrong with her minimalist style, but tonight she out did herself in this Saint Laurent gown. She is nominated tonight for her role in Cake, which I have yet to see but have heard amazing things about. She looks so beautiful and happy with her sexy man by her side. A +

Kate Hudson looked beyond words gorgeous in her Versace gown. It actually fit her like a lovely satin glove. On the E! Red Carpet Pre Show, Ryan Seacrest couldn't even take his eyes off of her.. and well for good reason. Her stylist did real good tonight!

Thats it for the best dressed! Lets move into the worst dressed of the evening:

Oh how I love Lana Del Ray. Usually, she flys under the clothing radar, but this dress with the up-do.. oh lordy. Talk about channeling Priscella Presley from the 50's/60's. I hate the pleating, I hate the bow. I hate the color. I hate her hair. Yikes.

Lena Dunham in Zach Posen. What can I say. Its not terrible, but its not great. Her look last year was really nice and to come back with this.. Meh.  Just as a PS- I can not wait to watch the new season of Girls that airs tonight! I absolutely love that show and if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

Ruth Wilson, best known for the movies, Saving Mr. Bank's and The Lone Ranger looked interesting in her lime green gown. YIKES. This remind me of curtains I recently saw on HGTV. I do love her old Hollywood glamour hair, but the dress has got to get thrown in a fire pit or out the window of a car zooming down the 101.

Kiera Knightly seen here in Chanel. On the E! Live from the Red Carpet pre show, she mentioned 30 people made this dress for her...... Not sure what else to say about it other than.. I hate it.

I hope you have all enjoyed viewing some of the best and worst dressed of the evening! I have had the best time reviewing these looks tonight and I can not wait until we meet again to discuss the Screen Actor Guild Awards show.

Until next time fashion friends,

Xo-
Cor

Wedding Wednesday- Best Dresses to Wear to a Summer Wedding

Wedding season is upon us and if your like me, you have just started going to all the weddings of the season! My inspiration for this post came from  Elle Magazine . They did an amazing article on the best looks to wear to a wedding and it got me thinking about wanting to give my readers some tips and highlight a few looks for these special days. Weddings are a lot of fun to go to and you always want to look your best for when you are seeing your friends and family! Here are a few rules to get you started: 1) No cream or white-- Please do not be that one person all the others are giving dirty looks to because you wore an all white look to a wedding. I think having cream or white come through in your look in some way is totally great, especially in these summer months. However, just don't have your entire dress be white. I have seen this done before and its not well received. 2) Pay attention to what the invitation says the attire will be-- If the invitation says blac...

Trendy Festival Wear - 2016

Hello there to my favorite readers! Festival season is now officially upon us. One thing I noticed this year is that the fashion retailers are advertising specifically to the festival goer, making it easier than ever to find your perfect look. It doesn't seem like it has changed too much since last year, besides there is even more of a 70's vibe mixed with the 90's in these looks. However, we still have the obvious staples -- the  headbands, the crop tops and the ripped jeans. Lets dive right into some of the best festival looks this season and how they can transition into your summer wardrobe and beyond! Grecian style shoes . I mean, perfection. I mean, say no more! These shorts ,some denim, a big hat and a choker! Your comfy and trendy! Georgy Georg bright colored dress . Pompom Playsuit . Need it! PS, is playsuit the new word for romper!? Braided headband!? I want it and Im not going to a festival! Obsessed with this v...

Dressing Diaries- ASOS Sheath Dress

It's about that time to start another reoccurring series entitled Dressing Diaries . I thought it would be fun to give you a peak into how I style myself and how some of my favorite looks come together. Start of dressing process:  Very late at night, the day before an event (nothing like a fair amount of procrastination), I always ask my sweet  fiancĂ©   to take a picture of my outfit. By the time I get to the pictures, I have narrowed down the look to two or three different choices. PS- this is a really good tip if you haven't tried it before.  I know that sounds funny, but in todays world where there are so many pictures taken its important for you to be able to visualize the final look so you aren't left disappointed. It is also good to be able to see what shoes look best and what accessories complete the ensemble.  Completion of dressing process : I went with nude lace up heels (you can find something similar to purchase here ) and opted...
