Fashion Review- MTV VMA's

I keep asking my fellow friends if we are too old to watch the MTV Video Music Awards?? Am I.. maybe as I don't know half of the artist's names or what they are popular for. However, fashion is fashion people and you can always expect unique looks at the VMA's!!

Lets get right into the best looks of the night that I have given my corStyle stamp of approval on:

Coming in at the number 5 spot: Nicki Minaj

Who doesn't love glitter, sparkle and leopard print!? I just recently watched the best chick flick I have seen in the last 3 years called, The Other Woman.  Leslie Mann (the wife), Cameron Diaz and Brooklyn Decker (the mistresses) all become friends and get back at her husband for being a cheater. Seriously quite the great flick if you are interested and have the time, but regardless Nicki Minaj plays Cameron's assistant and she did such a good acting job! It allowed me to see her in a different, more normal, human light. They styled her character perfectly and really highlighted all her best assets. She has been slowly but surly changing her image as of late and I love her new look. This particular look is super fun, very youthful and perfect for the occasion. I also love love love her shoes and hair/makeup!! This is just Super bass fantastic!

Coming in at the number 4 spot:  Kelly Rowland

How amazing does Kelly Rowland look! She is rocking her prego belly perfectly! I love the light blush sequin gown she is wearing. The empire waist really compliments her growing stomach. She looks gorgeous and so happy! So nice to see her on the carpet. I don't love the hair look here, but with that being said, her team picked great accessories that really work well with this look! All in all, truly beautiful.

Coming in at the number 3 spot: Nina Dubrov

This Degrassi and Vampire Diaries actress looks fantastic in her Zuhaur Murad frock. This is perfect for the VMA's occasion giving the elegant evening look an updated and modern twist with the leather material and the intricate draping around the bust and midline. I love her high ponytail, makeup and her t-strap heels. Perfection.

Coming in at the number 2 spot: Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani is no stranger to pushing the fashion boundaries and this happens to be the best look I have seen her in, in quite some time. As you all can tell from my blog, I have a love affair with the color pink and so does Gwen as her wedding dress was also the same color hues. I also happen to love black (who doesn't) and peplum looks! They are SO flattering on so many figures. Keep that in mind when you are picking out your next look, the peplum is still SO in style. The best part about this look is its designed by her label L.A.M.B. Got to love multi-talented women!!!

Coming in at the number 1 spot: Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian, in my opinion killed it in this Balmain number. I love the patterns and textures of this dress. Even the way it has sort of a ponchoesqe feel to it with a more updated appeal with the leather underlay. Her shoes are to die and are perfect for the dress. Her hair and makeup as usual are flawless. She looks really beautiful and she is dressed perfectly for the occasion, not too young and not too over done. She looks perfectly put together and thus is the fashion winner for this occasion!

Honorable mentions include:

Queen Bey- very Liberacesq. Lots of sequins. Very Hollywood. Love her hair.

J. to the LO. I love that this look highlights her best asset and she looks stunning, however its just so fancy for the occassion. It looks like she is trying too hard in my opinion.

Lastly, Chanel Iman. Her dress is perfection. Her shoes are crazy awesome. Amazing for the occasion. Done and done.

Worst look of the evening goes to, drum roll please.....

Katy Perry. I think we all know what she was trying to pull off here, and while it is rather hysterical, some things are meant to stay in the early 2000's. Not to mention her hair looks just awful and that lip color is hideous. Her date is rapper Riff Raf and he looks horrendous. God, if I have to look at a denim pant suit circa 2000, I'd much rather see Justin Timberlake do it  every time, because well he is just damn sexy. Lets face it, he could make a paper bag look hot. This look needs to go away and stay away. If any of you faithful readers want to do a matchy denim look with your partner.. look at the image above, reprimand yourself and run the other way.

Thats it for this fashion wrap up! Tune in later this week for an Emmy recap. Its going to be a busy week for the blogging world. I love it!

Until next time fashion friends,

XO-
Cor

Wedding Wednesday- Best Dresses to Wear to a Summer Wedding

Wedding season is upon us and if your like me, you have just started going to all the weddings of the season! My inspiration for this post came from  Elle Magazine . They did an amazing article on the best looks to wear to a wedding and it got me thinking about wanting to give my readers some tips and highlight a few looks for these special days. Weddings are a lot of fun to go to and you always want to look your best for when you are seeing your friends and family! Here are a few rules to get you started: 1) No cream or white-- Please do not be that one person all the others are giving dirty looks to because you wore an all white look to a wedding. I think having cream or white come through in your look in some way is totally great, especially in these summer months. However, just don't have your entire dress be white. I have seen this done before and its not well received. 2) Pay attention to what the invitation says the attire will be-- If the invitation says blac...

Trendy Festival Wear - 2016

Hello there to my favorite readers! Festival season is now officially upon us. One thing I noticed this year is that the fashion retailers are advertising specifically to the festival goer, making it easier than ever to find your perfect look. It doesn't seem like it has changed too much since last year, besides there is even more of a 70's vibe mixed with the 90's in these looks. However, we still have the obvious staples -- the  headbands, the crop tops and the ripped jeans. Lets dive right into some of the best festival looks this season and how they can transition into your summer wardrobe and beyond! Grecian style shoes . I mean, perfection. I mean, say no more! These shorts ,some denim, a big hat and a choker! Your comfy and trendy! Georgy Georg bright colored dress . Pompom Playsuit . Need it! PS, is playsuit the new word for romper!? Braided headband!? I want it and Im not going to a festival! Obsessed with this v...

Dressing Diaries- ASOS Sheath Dress

It's about that time to start another reoccurring series entitled Dressing Diaries . I thought it would be fun to give you a peak into how I style myself and how some of my favorite looks come together. Start of dressing process:  Very late at night, the day before an event (nothing like a fair amount of procrastination), I always ask my sweet  fiancĂ©   to take a picture of my outfit. By the time I get to the pictures, I have narrowed down the look to two or three different choices. PS- this is a really good tip if you haven't tried it before.  I know that sounds funny, but in todays world where there are so many pictures taken its important for you to be able to visualize the final look so you aren't left disappointed. It is also good to be able to see what shoes look best and what accessories complete the ensemble.  Completion of dressing process : I went with nude lace up heels (you can find something similar to purchase here ) and opted...
