Flashback Friday - Favorite Fashion Moments from Devil Wears Prada

Hi Readers!

TGIF! This Flashback Friday series is quickly becoming some of my favorite content pieces to write about! Writing about some of the fashion from my favorite movies is seriously something that I love more than anything.

One movie that tickled me from the very first time I saw it was The Devil Wears Prada. Released in 2006, this film captivated audiences all over the world with its whitey writing, fantastic cast and unbelievable wardrobe. This film was nominated for several Academy Awards in which Meryl Streep won for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Roll and Best Achievement in Costume Design which went to Patricia Fields. Yes, you got that right, Patricia Fields from Sex and the City costume fame. She is currently handling the costumes on an amazing show called Younger on TV Land. This woman is a genius with a rockin career and I absolutely love the styles she chooses for every different character.

If you live under a rock and have never seen the movie, Andy Sachs is a recent graduate who gets a job at a "Vogue" type magazine for Miranda Priestly. This film chronicles her move into the fashion world as Miranda's assistant and we get to watch her character evolve into something Andy just doesn't want to aspire to be.

Some of my all time favorite looks seen on screen were from this movie. Lets view a sampling of my favorites from the movie below:

I am obsessed with Andy's look here! How amazing and fashionable is this outfit over 10 years later. Lets recreate the look for less and update it just a bit:

Loft- Two in One Chunky Knit Sweater. How awesome is two pieces for the price of one!?

I love that look and that Chanel necklace! Sorry, there is not a suitable substitute for Chanel!!

This next look is rather easy for the everyday woman to recreate and one that is still in style today! I dressed it down a bit since we all aren't living in NYC and don't all work for Vogue.. Unfortunately!!

This next look is a great black jacket with a chic LBD and knee high boots. Compliment that with some chunky necklaces, and you have yourself a style that is still current. Thank god for LBD's!!

I thought updating the jacket would be helpful, this Express duster coat is still trending as one of the hottest looks!

I am obsessed with this Express Black Jacquard Sheath Dress!!! OMG - if you have a summer wedding rehearsal dinner to hit up, or a sexy date.. this is the one you need!

Here's a classic black boot with a bit of an updated heel! This Hudson boot is made for walking into your closet as its on sale!!

This necklace is inspired by the Chanel look above, but for probably less than a fraction of the cost!

"That's all" for this week! I hope you enjoyed walking down memory lane with me.

Until next time fashion friends,

XO-
Cor

Wedding Wednesday- Best Dresses to Wear to a Summer Wedding

Wedding season is upon us and if your like me, you have just started going to all the weddings of the season! My inspiration for this post came from  Elle Magazine . They did an amazing article on the best looks to wear to a wedding and it got me thinking about wanting to give my readers some tips and highlight a few looks for these special days. Weddings are a lot of fun to go to and you always want to look your best for when you are seeing your friends and family! Here are a few rules to get you started: 1) No cream or white-- Please do not be that one person all the others are giving dirty looks to because you wore an all white look to a wedding. I think having cream or white come through in your look in some way is totally great, especially in these summer months. However, just don't have your entire dress be white. I have seen this done before and its not well received. 2) Pay attention to what the invitation says the attire will be-- If the invitation says blac...

Trendy Festival Wear - 2016

Hello there to my favorite readers! Festival season is now officially upon us. One thing I noticed this year is that the fashion retailers are advertising specifically to the festival goer, making it easier than ever to find your perfect look. It doesn't seem like it has changed too much since last year, besides there is even more of a 70's vibe mixed with the 90's in these looks. However, we still have the obvious staples -- the  headbands, the crop tops and the ripped jeans. Lets dive right into some of the best festival looks this season and how they can transition into your summer wardrobe and beyond! Grecian style shoes . I mean, perfection. I mean, say no more! These shorts ,some denim, a big hat and a choker! Your comfy and trendy! Georgy Georg bright colored dress . Pompom Playsuit . Need it! PS, is playsuit the new word for romper!? Braided headband!? I want it and Im not going to a festival! Obsessed with this v...

Dressing Diaries- ASOS Sheath Dress

It's about that time to start another reoccurring series entitled Dressing Diaries . I thought it would be fun to give you a peak into how I style myself and how some of my favorite looks come together. Start of dressing process:  Very late at night, the day before an event (nothing like a fair amount of procrastination), I always ask my sweet  fiancé   to take a picture of my outfit. By the time I get to the pictures, I have narrowed down the look to two or three different choices. PS- this is a really good tip if you haven't tried it before.  I know that sounds funny, but in todays world where there are so many pictures taken its important for you to be able to visualize the final look so you aren't left disappointed. It is also good to be able to see what shoes look best and what accessories complete the ensemble.  Completion of dressing process : I went with nude lace up heels (you can find something similar to purchase here ) and opted...
